I like to add that demolition contractors for skyscraper and residential house have different skill-set.

It is true that both type need to take into account the safety, permit and disconnection of utilities, however residential house or commercial demolition are often done without heavy machinery as it normally involves in knocking down the interior in preparation of an office or shop fitouts.

I am not sure about in United States, but in Australia office and shop demolitions are more common than the demolition of the complete multi-storey building.
