We usually get the services of a contractor to build. But seldom do we hear people paying contractors for tearing down what has been built.

Dubbed as demolition contractors, they are the ones sought when an old structure has to be torn down if only to give way to a new project intended for the area where it sits on. There are also instances when demolition contractors are made to tear down what have already been classified as condemned structure. The demolition contractors bring down what has been put up, regardless of whether it is a skyscraper or a residential house.

Demolition contractors do it for a cost though.

Tearing down what has been Built

Demolition could be interior or external. In both cases, it requires specialized skills and equipment to undertake quality demolition bounded by the safety parameters well within a given timetable.

Demolition contractors are providing highly professional approach, both in theory and actual work. Demolition could not be done by ordinary engineers though as the task requires highly skilled demolition crews.

Different Faces of Demolition

Demolition contractors are paid based on the extent of the workload. The computation is usually based on a per square meter per floor basis. It is also bounded by a timetable and an insurance covering liabilities should there be one.

However there are demolition contractors who agree with a no cash-out” arrangement provided that everything that is found and attached to the building for demolition would be of their disposal. The arrangement however covers a long list of conditions drafted and approved by both parties before the actual demolition takes place. Among the conditions is that the demolition contractor gets the sole authority to dispose of anything that is either found attached to the structure that would be torn down. It includes the fixtures like the iron grills, glasses, ply-boards and rubbles among others.

Demolition as a Work of Art

Interestingly, there are demolition contractors who have fascinated the United States in the way that they tear down tall buildings as the condemned building is torn down without its rubble getting beyond the property line. The demolition procedure requires engineering precision and uses explosives blasted in synchrony. Documentary videos of how they tear down an old building seemed fascinating much like of an art form.
